Inviting Members To Your Blog

Some blog owners are confused about how to setup a team blog. Occasionally, in Blogger Help Forum: How Do I?, we see the query
How do I setup a second account, that I can give to my blog authors? I don't want them knowing my personal login and password!
as if there is only one account possible, for a blog.


With Blogger blogs, as with most Internet resources, blogs are owned by Blogger account(s).

If you want to have a team blog, with you owning the blog and your friends - preferably people that you can trust - as administrators, authors, and / or readers, you first setup the blog under your account.

Using the Permissions wizard at Settings - Basic, you invite the team members, by adding their email addresses (up to 99 other members). You invite members as authors (with option to later make administrators), by clicking on "Add authors" and entering email addresses. You invite members as readers by making a blog private, then clicking on "Add readers" and entering email addresses.

Each prospective member can open the email that they receive, containing your invitation, and accept membership using their own Blogger account. When they accept membership, they can choose whatever account they wish to use, as a member in your blog. They do not have to know your account - you can remain completely anonymous, should you desire.

Hi Heidi,

To invite authors, click on "Add authors". To invite readers, make the blog private - then click on "Add readers". In either case, email gets sent, to those whose email addresses you enter.
