The Real Blogger Status

One of the easiest improvements, in a Blogger blog, is customising the "About Me" / "About Us" ("Contributors" / "Profile") gadget. The default gadget gets its content from the Blogger profile - and is edited, using the Blogger Profile Editor. With a team blog, the gadget changes to a list of team members - and this cannot be edited. But given 15 minutes, and some imagination, you can make your own Profile gadget.

The XML based Layout template has been a Blogger feature for almost 4 years now . Occasionally, we get a strange problem report in Blogger Help Forum: Get Help with an Issue . My Profile gadget disappeared from my blog. I went to "Page Elements" to add it back, and the error says that it's already added, even though it isn't. Where did the Profile gadget go?

As I've mentioned before, generally in consumer related issues, a "2 for 1" offer is something that you enjoy, The "2 for 1" offer is not always the case , for Blogger blogs. This week, we have owners of private blogs, who report that their blogs, which previously displayed the "About Me" gadget, now show a "Contributors" gadget. The issue of the "About Me" gadget being replaced by the "Contributors" gadget is not arbitrary though.

Many bloggers want something better than the standard Blogger provided gadgets, like "Profile" / "About Us", on their blogs. For some, even a custom HTML / Rich Text gadget still doesn't provide enough choices. Rich text is too confusing. The HTML Gadget toolbar lacks features. There's no way to upload a picture.

Every week, we see questions I have friends posting in my blog, so it looks like a team blog. But it's my blog, and I want to show only my profile. or I want to list a friends profile, even though she's not technically a blog member. or maybe I want to add my birthdate (my city, the colour of my hair, whatever...) to my profile. How do I make it look good? and questions about tweaking the blog template, to accomplish this need, abound.
