Don't Use Draft Mode Post Editor, For Long Periods

Too many blog owners continue to trust their efforts to Page / Post Editor, over long periods of time, without backup. We see the agony, in Blogger Help Forum: Get Help with an Issue , too often. How do I get my post back? I have been working on it for months. I accidentally cleared the screen - and seconds later, the empty post was saved by post editor! Help meeee!! This blog owner is now in for some bad news.

Use Google Drive For Team Document Development

Ever since AutoSave was developed, and added to posts being edited, people have been having problems when editing un published posts. We see periodic cries of anguish, in Blogger Help Forum: Get Help with an Issue . I had been working on this post, for weeks! Just as I selected a portion to delete, AutoSave kicked in, highlighted the whole post, and saved an empty post!! and I was working on this post, along with another member of the team. We keep making changes, and erasing each others changes!!! Blogger allows long period editing of un published posts - and they provide team blog ownership - but you'll do better to not use either possibility, with any important projects.

However, even if Blogger does not provide a packaged audit trail, which would be a standard feature in any CMS, this does not mean that we cannot set one up, with very little work. If you publish a team blog (or a single owner blog), you already have this option.

Forms Entry In Blogger

Occasionally in Blogger Help Forum , we see questions about using a Blogger blog for forms entry. How do I let my readers submit information, like their email addresses? Forms entry, which is found in some content management systems, is yet one more feature that isn't offered , with Blogger blogs.

Blogger Is Not A Content Management System

Blogger is a one button blog / web site publishing system. It has no sophisticated Content Management capabilities. It's limited to 100 blog members / readers , and the member list is maintained using the Permissions wizard. It provides no activity log, showing maintenance or updates. This may present a challenge, in a team blog with multiple administrators. It provides no archiving of multiple historical versions of a given post. It provides no backup and restore capabilities, beyond the known manual processes. It provides no ability to transfer ownership of multiple blogs between one account and another, besides one blog at a time . It has no ability to allow multiple authors to work, simultaneously, on one post without the possibility of the work done by one overlaying another. It provides no ability for team members to use page / post editor for page / post development - and allow an administrator to oversee and moderate before a page / post is published. Limited pre p...
