Removing Blogs From Your Reading List

One of the strangest cases of confusion, exhibited in Blogger Help Forum: How Do I?, comes from people who only want to remove a blog from their Reading List, using the "Manage Blogs I'm Following" wizard.
I can't remove a blog from the Reading List - there is no trash can in the Manage wizard!
Here, I'll advise you to not look for a trash can icon, for some blogs.

To remove blogs from your Reading List, click on the gear icon to the far right of "Reading list", on your dashboard.

Start with the "gear" icon, to the far right of "Reading List".

This gives you Blogger: Manage Blogs I'm Following, which contains an inventory of all Followed blogs, by blog title. Alternately, try Google Friend Connect: Sites I've joined. You may be able to use the latter, when the former does not perform.

In many cases, you'll see the unwanted blog, listed in "Manage Blogs I'm Following".

If you don't immediately see the title of the blog that you are trying to remove, in the "These are the blogs and sites" list, don't worry. Go to the Reading List and look at each individual blog in the list, one by one, until you find the problem content - then look at the title used by the problem blog. Always start with the correct title.

Having the title of the problem blog, go to the list of blogs by title, and "Settings".

Once you know the correct title, go back to the Blogger / Friend Connect inventory, and find that title in the list. Click on "Settings", next to the title.

When you click on "Settings", you may have to login to Following / "Friend Connect". If you have to login, select "Google" - then use the correct Blogger account name and password.

The "Stop following" link is in the popup window, for the blog.

In the popup window for the correct title, you'll find the Basics tab selected, with your profile displayed. Beneath the display of your profile, you'll find the title of the blog again - and to the right of that (possibly requiring that you stretch the width of the popup window), you'll find the link "Stop following this site". Click on the link, hit "Stop Following" to confirm, and you're done.

Just don't waste time looking for a trash can icon - if you don't see the unwanted blog, immediately.

Exactly what I've been trying to do. The reason you're getting so many posts in your "help" column maybe because people, like me, do click the gear symbol to manage their blogs. But maybe they end up, like I always do - and have done for weeks now - with the error message: code error bX-2ge117

I haven't been able to reduce my blog list for months because of this.

Do you have a discussion in Blogger Help Forum: Something Is Broken? If not, can you please start one, so we can diagnose this?

I can't sign twice. My domain doesn't have the Google Friend Connection option! So I cannot remove unwanted blog from my readlist anymore. This is crazy!

bizarre, i login to my blog with my google account, and then have to login again to remove blogs from my readings list. typical google logic.

Simon,

Either you have a problem with third party cookies, or you have two different Blogger accounts. Why not post in Blogger Help Forum: Something Is Broken, so we can discuss this easier?

Hello, i am still having a problem with removing my blogs i don't want to follow anymore? I am guessing since i wasn't in the "friends connect" ma-bob, i can't do anything about it. Do you know an alternative way to manage my blogs? Thank you for you time and effort to fixing my problem
Thanks a millions for explaining this! I somehow got subscribed to a blog's comments string instead of their blog posts. When I tried to unsubscribe via the settings "gear," I kept seeing the link friends page, but figured naw, it couldn't be that! lol. Thanks again...

Hi, I've come from the "something is broken" google product forums where you've got a topic on an issue I'm seeing in my blogger. Do you know if the issue of "error, friendconnect data not available at this time" has been resolved? Looks like the topic has been inactive for a while, but I'm still having issues, and nobody has responded to my recent questions concerning this issue... Thanks for any help.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I have not been able to use the gear icon as it kept giving me an error message, but now, thanks to the http://www.google.com/friendconnect/user/overview link that you gave I can remove those blogs I no longer want to follow. I have been trying for over a year!

Right, Dani has given me the link I needed.

Nevermind my rant. I started using this link you gave http://www.google.com/friendconnect/user/overview and it's perfect! SORRY and THANK YOU

Finally got mine off...it took forever to go thru the google friend connect list since I follow at the least 100+blogs, but all that crap is gone now. Shame on those spammers.

This didn't work for me I get this message after I click the gear icon:
These are the blogs you are following and sites you've joined with FriendConnect. Learn more
We are unable to load your FriendConnect data at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again shortly.

Thanks for this valuable information. It worked like a charm.

I was trying for almost 2 years unsuccessfully to remove blogs from my reading list. Thank you for posting this including the links to friend connect which actually works.
Oddly enough while trying to connect directly to friends connect or manage the reading list from blogger overview, results in an error message and has for almost more than a year for me.

Thanks again, really appreciate the great work.

Thanks for this! I don't know why they'd make it so obvious and easy to ADD a blog, but perish the thought you might want to one day REMOVE one. Why make it so awkward?

What's The URL Of My Blog?

We see the plea for help, periodically I need the URL of my blog, so I can give it to my friends. Help! Who's buried in Grant's Tomb, after all? No Chuck, be polite. OK, OK. The title of this blog is "The Real Blogger Status", and the title of this post is "What's The URL Of My Blog?".

Add A Custom Redirect, If You Change A Post URL

When you rename a blog, the most that you can do, to keep the old URL useful, is to setup a stub post , with a clickable link to the new URL. Yo! The blog is now at xxxxxxx.blogspot.com!! Blogger forbids gateway blogs, and similar blog to blog redirections . When you rename a post, you can setup a custom redirect - and automatically redirect your readers to the post, under its new URL. You should take advantage of this option, if you change a post URL.

Adding A Link To Your Blog Post

Occasionally, you see a very odd, cryptic complaint I just added a link in my blog, but the link vanished! No, it wasn't your imagination.
