Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Seriously... I had transfered my blog to a different host, decided I didn't like it... and when I switched back, I got a 404. One of your posts showed me the way to restore my blog! Thank you so much. I've linked back to your blog as a way of showing my appreciation : http://www.pixel-shack.net/2008/04/test.html

Hi Chuck,

I'm very very helpless, in regards to my blog on blogger, at the moment and went to google groups for help but couldn't get any but have seen that you have helped quite some people in making their blogging life easier!

Anyway, I'm gonna start with my huge problem now!

I bought a domain from iDotz.net (BRS Media) two months ago. I set up google apps with it so the DNS settings got set up on their own(?). When i login to google apps, it's working perfectly fine, however even when i try everything on blogger, like publish on a custom domain and then switch advanced settings, redirect www.domain.com to domain.com and everything however it's still not working. Now it shows me a 404 - Page not found error and says

"Sorry...

...but that beautiful web page you're looking for isn't here yet. Stay tuned!

Yours,

The Google Page Creator Team

Is this your page?

If you're looking for a page that you created in Google Page Creator, please remember to press the Publish button. We can't wait to see your pages."

I really dunno what to do Chuck...please help me!

Ruby,

Have you posted already in GBH: Something Is Broken, and I missed the post? If so, my apologies. But the online forums are much easier to use, then Blogger Blog Commenting, for interactive problem solving.

Hi, oh sage of blogging, oh rescuer of cyber-neanderthals such as I -

I've seen questions similar to mine, but not quite: How can I, using Blogger or other free platform, allow an unlimited number of authors, whose posts will appear immediately (no pre-approval or permissions required by the administrator)?

Thanks so much for any insights you might have.

Best,
Shirley

My comment is that I sure wish Blogger could set it up so that you can post your oldest entry first. For trips, if you post every day, it would be so nice if you didn't have to read it backwards.
Other than that, I find the tools easier to use than Live Journal.

Hi Chuck,

Thank you for pointing me to a starting point. Like Jukeboxgrad, I'm feeling cyber-Neanderthal-like.

Per your instructions:

Ran the WinsockXPFix. It said there were no errors.

Ran the LSPFix. It said there were no errors.

Have attempted to do something/anything with the DRTCP021. It has been downloaded and unzipped to my desktop. It doesn’t do anything when I click on it. I have changed from the LAN setting given to my Sony Erickson wireless card. It won’t do anything else. The MTU box is blank. What am I supposed to do with it? I have tried the 1500, 1400, and 500 settings given in the examples to no avail.

Have read at least 25 pages of information, most of which deals with fixing one computer in a network, thereby having something to compare to. This doesn’t work for me because my laptop is a stand-alone.

Command prompts: I know my IP gateway, Subnet mask, and Default gateway. The pathping tracing route to www.1.google.com “over a maximum of 30 hops” gives me a different IP.

Blogger is the only site I’ve attempted to get to in at least six months that I can not get to. When www.blogger.com is typed into the search bar it changes to https://www.blogger.com. Then https://www.blogger.com/start. When I type in my signon and password it goes to https://www.blogger.com plus a very long string that includes ADD SERVICE (I’m not shouting, it is actually in caps in the search bar which is probably why I can see it) but goes to http://www.blogger.com/home/?pli=1 before I can catch the whole string. Then the Not Found Error 404 pops up. Please notice the http/https changes – if they mean anything at all.

When I ping www.blogger.com it gives me 4 replies from 209.85.159.191: bytes 32, with times of 1036 ms, 819 ms, 695 ms, and 790 ms and TTL=241. Ping statistics: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost – 0 (0% loss). I have no idea what this means other than my connection is slow. Cellular and dial-up are my only options. Cellular is faster.

As part of the DNS search issue, ping –f -1 209.85.159.191 tells me it is a bad option -1.

Ping –f 1500 209.85.159.191 tells me “Bad parameter 209.85.159.191”

I double-checked to make sure blogger’s IP was typed in correctly both times. Why the difference and what does it tell?

Am I getting any closer to fixing this?

Linda,

I keep hoping for you to start leaving your comment in my MTU Diagnostic article Check The MTU Setting On Your Computer. Do you see the link in the post title?

That's where you need to start. And if you can start using an authenticated comment - not anonymous, I can maybe email you, and we can get this process moving forward.

I found your site in the Google Help. Kudos to you for all the great information.

I have a question I hope you can answer:

Is it okay with Google if I have a webpage that links to my blogger.com page?

I have heard otherwise - can you please clarify and confirm either way?

Do I need to do anything special with regards to Google Blogger and stay in good standings?

I appreciate your help & thank you in advance!

Hey Naples Valley,

This web site (blog) is part of the World Wide Web. The key word here is "Web", which says that it contains links from web site to web site.

Links to your web site from other web sites (some of which you own also, others you don't) are perfectly fine. Relevant links are most useful, but all links have their place.

Hi Nitecruzr... I need your magnificent help once again!... I would like to know how to insert a link title on my Blogsite..(for instance: Add a Title such as "Reviews" and when the visitor clicks on it a page appears with the review info)...I can´t also manage how to add a page to my blog...
Thanx for your kind assistance as usual...
Keep up the good work!

Hi Elven,

First thanks for your kind flattery. ;-)

I THINK that what you're looking for is the Link field (Settings - Formatting). If not, you might want to post in GBH: How Do I?? The online forums are much easier to use, then Blogger Blog Commenting, for interactive problem solving.

Thankyou for when you helped me when my blog disappeared. I didn't say anything when it reappeared because I was so stressed out and upset by all that happened it took me two or three days to get normal again.

Google need to fix the problem with blogs being accused of being spam and then being deleted like mine was. To them it is just one of millions of blogs but to the individuals who write them they do mean a great deal and take a lot of hard work to make.

Anyway, that's up to Google to sort out. I can help for $10 per hour, I'm cheap, lol, cheap lil hussy Muahahaha xx

Hey I am a little new at this blogging and I have a question. I hope it is ok to ask it here! I have been uploading pictures on my computer by scanning in pictures on my printer, then I just got a digital camera so I haven't needed to scan anymore, but everytime I try to upload a photo it acts like it is uploading and even says "done" but all the post shows is a code and no picture! I have tried turning off my pop up blocker, using a different browser, and clearing my browser's cache and cookies. I don't know what else to do! Can you help me. I would really appreciate it.
