Blog Owners Asked To Confirm Google+ Profiles

We have a small number of blog owners reporting problems using Blogger.
My Blogger dashboard shows
Oops! You don't seem to have a suitable Google+ Profile.

You can go to Google+ to configure your profile, or switch to a limited Blogger Profile for use with Blogger. If you use a Google+ Profile, please ensure that it meets the Google+ Community Standards.
I have a very active Google+ Following, Why is my profile not acceptable?

Apparently, the problem involves blog owners who have upgraded their Blogger accounts, to a Google+ profile.

This advice causes apprehension.

This is a rather foreboding message. How am I violating standards?

So far, we note that the problem seems to involve use of Draft Blogger. The reported solution involves reverting the Blogger account, to use of Live Blogger.

For consistent results after changing back to Live Blogger, you may need to clear cache, cookies, and sessions, then restart the browser. It's best to remove all traces of Draft Blogger, from the browser.

This is one more case showing us that Draft Blogger should be used selectively.

Hey Cat,

Thanks for your keen as usual righteous indignation.

All that aside, this is a righteous update.

The ability to use various accounts for login - and for hosting profiles (and the two were not the same) is (was) not magic. Significant amounts of code are required for all of that - and code that was not so heavily used.

One of the more intriguing features of Following was people who would follow a blog using one Blogger account (sometimes even setup a new Blogger account, inadvertently) - then go back to the Reading List while logged in to Blogger using a different account - and surprise! The blog just Followed was nowhere to be seen!!

You should read the problem reports about Reading List - problems that were not caused by Reading List, but by Following using the wrong Blogger account. Or worse, a non Blogger account, which would add a Followed blog to no Reading List.

So all of that is about to change!

Blogger is going to simplify the code, and require everybody to use a Blogger / Google account, to Follow a Blogger blog. If you think about it, that's not all that unreasonable.

They're going to make Following more reliable, by removing unnecessary code. Maybe get rid of "We're sorry ... This gadget is configured incorrectly ..." and similar crappy behaviours.

Maybe one day, Followers will even use Google "One account" login. Who knows? Maybe one day, Blogger will support Google Multi-Account login.

This was a long requested feature - and many bloggers added it to their blogs, as soon as the option was presented to us. Some blog owners like this feature so much, that they request it to be visible when the blog is opened, in main page view. With Following, Anonymous Followers Can't Be Blocked

As people become used to Blogger Following as just another tool to connect people, they start to think about the implications . And we see questions like How do I block someone who's been following my blog secretly? I couldn't see her in my Followers list (hence I couldn't use the "Block this user" link), but I have looked at her profile and could see that she's Following my blog. Following, when you look at the bottom line, is no more than a feed subscription and an icon (possibly) displayed on your blog, and linking back to the profile of the Follower in question. If someone Follows your blog anonymously, all that they get is a subscription to the blog feed. If you publish a feed from your blog, and if the feed is open to anybody (which, right now, is the case ), then it's open to everybody. If someone wants to use Following to subscribe to the feed, you can't stop this. You can't block it before, or after, the fact. You can't Block w
