We see periodic evidence of the confusion about the differences between dynamic and static pages, expressed as limit uncertainties in Blogger Help Forum: How Do I?.
(Update 2014/11): This limit has been relaxed - but it does not appear to be gone, entirely.
Blogger has limited the number of static pages - Pages entries created as "Blank page", by the Pages editor in the New GUI.
The limit on static pages is a resource issue. Static pages require specific resources, pre allocated to every blog - and increasing the number of static pages, like increasing the limit on number of labels, would have to be made to all blogs. Such resources are limited, just as everything is limited, in some way.
Learn the different possibilities for dynamic and static pages - and your blog has a virtually limitless potential for expansion.
Even if you can have only up to 20 static pages, you can index an unlimited amount of dynamic pages, using the Pages gadget, and adding "Web address" entries. You are limited only by the space used by the blog header tabs, or by the sidebar based gadget.
There is no limit, for dynamic pages. Those items are dynamic, because once you add a dynamic entry, it links to content that is constantly changing, without the need to use the Pages editor.
So understand the differences between dynamic and static pages - and know where the limits are, and where they are not.
andHow many pages can I have in my blog?
The Pages editor manages dynamic and static pages so transparently, not everybody realises where the limits are.Why can't I have more than 20 tabs in my top menu bar?

No, there is no comprehensive article - because I have no figured out, reliably, what all of the rules are. I've identified specific features, though.
The suffix "_9" is duplication prevention.

ive been reading your posts and i think you got the answers i need but im affraid i'm not following... (totally new to Blogger and blogs in general).
What i'd like to do is to create another page like the home page (i think that's what you call dynamic page) so that i can start afresh with a new topic where i would like to add regular posts (plural), just like in the home page, not the static page where you can only have 1 post (even though you can add to it).
Is that possible? if so, how? in totally newby language please?
Thank you so much
All the best,
-John
All I can can think at this moment is using posts as page, please see: http://www.swamivivekanandaquotes.org/2013/12/project-page-featured-articles.html
Please tell me about disadvantages of using a post as a page. The two disadvantage I can see at this moment— a) the linkWithin gadget will wrongly include that project page and b)such page may get included in popular posts. Anything else?
Blogs with posts published to dynamic pages will probably have the same advantages and disadvantages as posts published to the "main" page.
Label search pages ("dynamic" pages) are the same as archive (date retrieval), or main page - they are all called "index" pages.
If you use Jump Break consistently, the index pages won't have a lot of post content - and should not get indexed by the search engines.

Here is my comparison of pages (static pages) and posts (dynamic pages).
