FTP Publishing - April 2009 #2

Yesterday, we noted the return of the well known FTP Publishing symptom
Publishing your blog is taking longer than expected. To continue waiting for it to finish, click here.

Today, and based upon observed threads in Blogger Help Group, and comments to the earlier post, it appears that the problem was not fixed, for all bloggers.

If you're experiencing a problem with publishing your blog, please provide details about your problem. And please, especially, when you report your problem, state whether you observed this problem yesterday also, and specifically state whether the symptoms of your problem are the same as reported yesterday. Nobody will be served by us reporting that yesterdays problem was not fixed, if your symptoms do not reflect the same problem as was fixed yesterday. If we have a new problem, that has to be diagnosed and treated as a new problem.

When making your problem report, as always, please provide details.
  • The blog BlogSpot URL (if applicable).
  • The blog domain URL.
  • The name of the server hosting company.
  • The Blogger FTP server setting value.
  • Important: Is this the same problem that you had, yesterday? Did you have any problem, yesterday?
  • Important: are you attempting to FTP posts with photos?

(Update 2009/5/1): Yet another occurrence of this symptom is being reported, heavily, in BHG.

Hi-

April 18th, having major problems uploading photos to my blog. I haven't tried this in a few days, so this is the first time I have experienced the issue.

The blog domain URL: http://www.browndepot.com
The name of the server hosting company: GoDaddy.com
The Blogger FTP server setting value: FTP
Important: Is this the same problem that you had, yesterday? Did you have any problem, yesterday? No problem/No attempt yesterday
Important: are you attempting to FTP posts with photos? YES - Cannot do it. When I go to my FTP site with an FTP client, it appears that the images are actually getting uploaded, but blogger is not dropping the code into my posting box, so it is as if nothing is happening.

I had this problem for the past three days. It seems to have resolved itself as of 3:00 P.M. Eastern Daylight Savings Time on Sunday, April 18th.

I am having problems with "Your publish is taking longer than expected. To continue waiting for it to finish" on my blogs

http://www.ecolyer.com/Max/Maxblog.html
http://www.ecolyer.com/Emily

It happens both publishing a text blog entry and uploading photos.

Hosting provider: sherweb.net

The ftp server is windows.

Note: the files get uploaded, but it never realizes it finishes. I even got the email indicator of it finishing.

Adding A Link To Your Blog Post

Occasionally, you see a very odd, cryptic complaint I just added a link in my blog, but the link vanished! No, it wasn't your imagination.

Embedded Comments And Main Page View

The option to display comments, embedded below the post, was made a blog option relatively recently. This was a long requested feature - and many bloggers added it to their blogs, as soon as the option was presented to us. Some blog owners like this feature so much, that they request it to be visible when the blog is opened, in main page view. I would like all comments, and the comment form, to be shown underneath the relevant post, automatically, for everyone to read without clicking on the number of comments link. And this is not how embedded comments work.

What's The URL Of My Blog?

We see the plea for help, periodically I need the URL of my blog, so I can give it to my friends. Help! Who's buried in Grant's Tomb, after all? No Chuck, be polite. OK, OK. The title of this blog is "The Real Blogger Status", and the title of this post is "What's The URL Of My Blog?".
