Automatic DNS Setup Is Now Available, For GoDaddy Purchased Custom Domains

Blogger is now making it easier for people who purchase a domain, hosted by GoDaddy, and need your DNS setup to support custom domain publishing. Just go to the Blogger / GoDaddy "Update your DNS records" wizard, and provide your domain URL.

It's a very painless process.
  1. If you are not logged in to GoDaddy, you login using the right GoDaddy customer account - either one which you currently own, or your new account, setup by "Buy a domain".
  2. You use the Blogger / GoDaddy "Update your DNS records" wizard.
  3. You provide the URL of your domain, to the wizard.
  4. You're done.

If you can't setup your domain, by using "Buy a domain" - or if you need to reset your DNS addresses, for a GoDaddy hosted domain.
  • You already have a GoDaddy hosted domain.
  • Your GoDaddy hosted domain registration just expired.
  • You just transferred your domain to GoDaddy.
  • You purchased your domain using "Buy a domain", and you now need to reset the DNS addresses.
You can now have your domain DNS, automatically setup.

So, we see one more reason to purchase your domain from GoDaddy.

Hi

This question keeps running through my head - all my domains are registered at Godaddy, but not hosted. I'm looking for a new host and easy management of the blogspot to custom domain. Godaddy has terrible reviews as a host. Can I manage the DNS settings at Godaddy and host elsewhere?

Thanks Dan

Dan,

What you do is host the DNS with GoDaddy, and host the content with Blogger / Google. That's called Custom Domain publishing, with a GoDaddy hosted domain.

You can use GoDaddy as a registrar only, if you wish. That's GoDaddy "Bring your own DNS". I won't comment on that.

Why not start a discussion in Blogger Help Forum: How Do I?, so we can discuss this in detail?

Adding A Link To Your Blog Post

Occasionally, you see a very odd, cryptic complaint I just added a link in my blog, but the link vanished! No, it wasn't your imagination.

Embedded Comments And Main Page View

The option to display comments, embedded below the post, was made a blog option relatively recently. This was a long requested feature - and many bloggers added it to their blogs, as soon as the option was presented to us. Some blog owners like this feature so much, that they request it to be visible when the blog is opened, in main page view. I would like all comments, and the comment form, to be shown underneath the relevant post, automatically, for everyone to read without clicking on the number of comments link. And this is not how embedded comments work.

What's The URL Of My Blog?

We see the plea for help, periodically I need the URL of my blog, so I can give it to my friends. Help! Who's buried in Grant's Tomb, after all? No Chuck, be polite. OK, OK. The title of this blog is "The Real Blogger Status", and the title of this post is "What's The URL Of My Blog?".
