If It's Not One Thing, It's Another

Today, Blogger seems to be up.

But try posting to Google Blogger Help.

The latest post there is about 3 hours old now.

  • When trying to post a reply, I get an error bidding me to email groups-support@google.com.
  • That gives me botmail.

Yeah, i know. I was stopped when ready to send someone his Code solution!!! Have tried a dozen times to send it before I lose track of it, but no dice for past few hours. Never happened before, so I'm stunned. Feel like I've been hit on the snout!

I have experience same thing with you, yesterday im trying to use google help to know how to make link in post. But didnt find the solution.

But I dont want to spent my time emailing at them

Well I don't WANT to spend my time emailing at them either.

But since Blogger Help is our last resort when things go wrong, we had better try and make sure that it's working. And now would be a better time to start, then in 2 days when the weekend is upon us and Google is all off.

From dealing with the Blogger no-help system a couple months ago, I am almost certain that their "help" system only alerts them when a LOT of complaints about the same problem are present. So we had better start reporting this, or it may not be fixed for days.

I reported it; whether it helped or not, duh...

We'll never know if our actions were helpful, or just noise. But if this happens again, it's better to do something than sit silently. We can't let problems go without reporting them.

The "403 Forbidden" blackout 3/6 - 3/15 was far too long. It didn't take Blogger that long to fix the problem, some of that time was us convincing them that there was a problem. That won't happen again.

What's The URL Of My Blog?

We see the plea for help, periodically I need the URL of my blog, so I can give it to my friends. Help! Who's buried in Grant's Tomb, after all? No Chuck, be polite. OK, OK. The title of this blog is "The Real Blogger Status", and the title of this post is "What's The URL Of My Blog?".

Add A Custom Redirect, If You Change A Post URL

When you rename a blog, the most that you can do, to keep the old URL useful, is to setup a stub post , with a clickable link to the new URL. Yo! The blog is now at xxxxxxx.blogspot.com!! Blogger forbids gateway blogs, and similar blog to blog redirections . When you rename a post, you can setup a custom redirect - and automatically redirect your readers to the post, under its new URL. You should take advantage of this option, if you change a post URL.

Adding A Link To Your Blog Post

Occasionally, you see a very odd, cryptic complaint I just added a link in my blog, but the link vanished! No, it wasn't your imagination.
