You are not allowed to have a GMail address as the primary address for your Blogger account.

This despair may be rather intense, when the need is urgent. Maybe, your current email account is expiring, and it's not convenient to immediately move your blog(s) to a new GMail based Blogger account.

But, think outside the box.

The error message means that you may not use a GMail address for the account. If your email account is expiring, and it is not convenient for you to change over to a new GMail based Blogger account immediately, setup a new email account using Yahoo, or any other convenient and free web based host. Then, plug the new email address into your Blogger account, for password recovery.

Setup a new GMail based Blogger account, and transfer your blog(s), later - when convenient. But, consider the advantages of remembering the account password, too.
