Improved Spam Review / Undelete Option In Blogger

One of the more positive changes in the "New GUI" involves an improved ability to find, and correct, deleted and locked blogs.

Finding deleted / locked blogs, under earlier versions of Blogger, was always a challenge - both for the person looking for the necessary display - and for the people trying to instruct how to find the necessary dashboard display.

In the current Blogger dashboard, one simply logs in and looks for the "Deleted Blogs" button - right beneath "New Blog", when the blog owner has any self deleted blogs, or any blogs deleted or locked by the Blogger abusive blogs classifier. Clicking on "Deleted Blogs", we see a list of blogs - with either an "Un delete" button (for self deleted blogs), or a "Restore" button (for spam classifier locked / deleted blogs).

Neither the "Restore" or "Undelete" button produce an immediate or universal result - both are still subject to previous limitations.

It is simply now far easier to find the spam review / un delete mechanism, than it was under the previous GUI.

If your blog was deleted by you - or deleted by Blogger for hosting malware, you should be able to hit "Restore", and the blog will be restored while you wait. If the blog was deleted or locked by Blogger for suspected spam hosting, you will probably have to solve a CAPTCHA - then wait 24 to 48 hours, while the blog is reviewed. In the long run, you will probably find this extra effort will be worth your time.

In some cases, the owning Blogger account may be locked, following unusual account activity - generally, brute force password guessing attempts, in an effort to hijack control of the account and any owned blogs. After submitting an account restore request and / or changing the account password, the blogs owned by the account will be restored - generally 24 to 48 hours after the account is restored. This is a normal, and unavoidable, result of Google, protecting your account and blogs from hacking activity.

Just be aware that not all blogs will be listed by the "Deleted Blogs" wizard.

Please be aware of the limitations of the restore process. This process serves blog owners who have been spuriously classified. If you request restore - and Blogger confirms that you are a spammer - you will be best advised to start over, or to find a different platform for publishing.

If you do start over, you should be very careful, and avoid making the same mistakes - lest you be subject to more strict punishment. Spammers simply are not welcome, in Blogger / Google - sorry.

No Dashboard, no Deleted Blogs link. Just a message:Blog has been removed

Sorry, the blog at clarkssmith.blogspot.com has been removed. This address is not available for new blogs.

Did you expect to see your blog here? See: 'I can't find my blog on the Web, where is it?'

I will just start over. I saved my blog entries as word docs so I can recreate the past posts.

Thanks for your help.

We cannot conduct content reviews (hacking, malware, porn, spam locks), here.

You must post in Blogger Help Forum: Something Is Broken.

My site www.1kindphotography.com was deleted because it detected spam. Although I have links its mainly reviews and tutorials which I have accumulated for the past 2 years and are very very important to me. How can I restore? I just want to recover my articles.

Timothy,

If your blog truly is a spam host - and can't be restored by Blogger - then you simply have to start over.

Were Blogger to restore access to the blog, so you could just recover your articles, this would be similar to the police giving a convicted bank robber his gun and mask, so he could go back to work robbing more banks, when released from prison after his incarceration is complete.

It would simply not be fair, to Blogger blog owners who do not spam, were you to be given access to your blog.

I'm sorry if this sounds dismissive, or rude - but it's neither. You now need to start over. It's that simple.

My Dashboard only has a button for "New Blog" and a statement that I have not authored any blogs yet. My blog has been up for nearly five years.

My Reading List is intact.

When I type in my blogger address - http://phillycollector.blogspot.com/ - I get the message that

Blog has been removed

Sorry, the blog at phillycollector.blogspot.com has been removed. This address is not available for new blogs.

Did you expect to see your blog here? See: 'I can't find my blog on the Web, where is it?'

Just before my blog disappeared, I received a message from Blogger asking me to confirm my account by entering my telephone number and to submit verification. I typed in the verification number as requested.

I am not a spammer; could someone have hijacked my Blogger account?

Thanking you in advance for your advice. I'll also submit a request to Blogger.

Thanks, Chuck!

I appreciate Google's protecting me from hackers. I mentioned that normal result because it occurred right before my blog vanished.

But now my blog is restored. I am a happy Blogger again!

Hello

I'm in the same situation as Clark above - - - None of the options you're speaking of are available to me

No Dashboard, no Deleted Blogs link. Just a message:

Caryl,

If you start over, your Blogger account will be at risk, with you looking like a non repentant spammer.

You need to get the blog reviewed, in the forum.

I have not started over. I have no un-delete or store buttons that I can see. Who do I contact?
Nitecruzr said…
Caryl,

You have no un-delete or store buttons that you can see, because you are logged in to the wrong account - or because you are not the owner.

You have to figure out what the account is, that owns (owned) the blog - then you have to login under that account.

Help me get my content back to edit check review!

My blog has been removed also need help.. no restore or edit buttons to review.

It said will delete in 20 days? But you can edit it and offer for review. Option does not work??

Please help.. I have no back up or copy of 5 years work/content!! I think wrongly deleted! Possible hacked spamed?

Dubaitantramassage.blogspot.com
I did not abuse rules violations. It's been active 5 years was peer reviewed. Letters from all over the world to support and tell me how good the writing and content was!!!

Letters of thanks and interest from all ages and men women .. it campaigns against the misuse of the writing Tantra and explains to the world that Tantra was being misused by the adult business profession. It was allowed to appear in the UAE. Not blocked because the authorities reviewed it as educational.

I have no back up of any of the blogs! All the work has gone terrrible loss.

If it was hacked or spamed before abuse notice.. then how can it be restored as an author I can check it! And offer for review???

At least to check content!!! Or save my work! This is a violation. I received no warning email either. Just deleted!!

It offered edit and your blog and offer it for review. option box.. But it does not work! I can not see blog and edit for review which comment box said is possible.. this is a fundamental right! I am sure someone has hacked or spamed account?

Please help???

What's The URL Of My Blog?

We see the plea for help, periodically I need the URL of my blog, so I can give it to my friends. Help! Who's buried in Grant's Tomb, after all? No Chuck, be polite. OK, OK. The title of this blog is "The Real Blogger Status", and the title of this post is "What's The URL Of My Blog?".

Add A Custom Redirect, If You Change A Post URL

When you rename a blog, the most that you can do, to keep the old URL useful, is to setup a stub post , with a clickable link to the new URL. Yo! The blog is now at xxxxxxx.blogspot.com!! Blogger forbids gateway blogs, and similar blog to blog redirections . When you rename a post, you can setup a custom redirect - and automatically redirect your readers to the post, under its new URL. You should take advantage of this option, if you change a post URL.

Adding A Link To Your Blog Post

Occasionally, you see a very odd, cryptic complaint I just added a link in my blog, but the link vanished! No, it wasn't your imagination.
