A recent article in Mashable about elimination of private Blogger profiles, and use of Google+ to selectively share personal information, has confused many Blogger blog owners.
Blogger Profiles are simply the static (read, boring) display pages that list the blogs we own, the blogs that we Follow, and miscellaneous personal information about us, that we feel like sharing with the world. Blogger recognises the possibility that some of us may want to publish blogs without sharing this information with everybody. The idea of not sharing any information about ourselves is part of any well planned self anonymising strategy.
Google has now developed Google+, which will let us dynamically share information with others, selectively. To encourage us to open up our profiles to our closest friends and family, Blogger is replacing our static private profiles (which are useless, since we are not sharing them with anybody) with Google+ information, shared dynamically and selectively.
Google is not eliminating our Blogger accounts (which let us keep control of our blogs), nor are they deleting private blogs. They are simply eliminating private information about ourselves which we aren't sharing with anybody, because, up to now, our static profiles had only two sharing options.
