Confusion And Panic Over Private Profiles Being Deleted

A recent article in Mashable about elimination of private Blogger profiles, and use of Google+ to selectively share personal information, has confused many Blogger blog owners.
Mashable has been told to expect the public debut of Google+ on or before July 31. The date is important because it's the day all private Google Profiles will be deleted.
Some owners believe that their Blogger accounts will be deleted, others are concerned that private Blogger blogs won't be allowed.

Blogger Profiles are simply the static (read, boring) display pages that list the blogs we own, the blogs that we Follow, and miscellaneous personal information about us, that we feel like sharing with the world. Blogger recognises the possibility that some of us may want to publish blogs without sharing this information with everybody. The idea of not sharing any information about ourselves is part of any well planned self anonymising strategy.

Google has now developed Google+, which will let us dynamically share information with others, selectively. To encourage us to open up our profiles to our closest friends and family, Blogger is replacing our static private profiles (which are useless, since we are not sharing them with anybody) with Google+ information, shared dynamically and selectively.

Google is not eliminating our Blogger accounts (which let us keep control of our blogs), nor are they deleting private blogs. They are simply eliminating private information about ourselves which we aren't sharing with anybody, because, up to now, our static profiles had only two sharing options.
  1. Share profile information with everybody.
  2. Not share profile information with anybody.
This static, two level choice is being replaced with a dynamic, multi-level choice to let us selectively share information to an infinite number of Circles of People, using Google+.

I know I am dense, but........ It sounds like more work, for we bloggers.

2 choices before.

Now, a multitude of "stuff to do."

-sigh-

And, how many people really believe they can be completely anon., when blogging?!? As the old saying goes... "If you do, I've got a great bridge to sell to you." >,-)

Publishing a Blogger blog is only as much work as you let it be. Just be thankful that Blogger lets you publish a blog anonymously - not all blogging / website publishing services support anonymous blog publication.

It's actually less work than it looks.

...what if we're not using Google+, and have no intention of doing so?

Add A Custom Redirect, If You Change A Post URL

When you rename a blog, the most that you can do, to keep the old URL useful, is to setup a stub post , with a clickable link to the new URL. Yo! The blog is now at xxxxxxx.blogspot.com!! Blogger forbids gateway blogs, and similar blog to blog redirections . When you rename a post, you can setup a custom redirect - and automatically redirect your readers to the post, under its new URL. You should take advantage of this option, if you change a post URL.

Jump Break Is Visible Only In An Index Page

Some blog owners are unsure what a Jump Break looks like, when applied to their blogs. Occasionally, in Blogger Help Forum: Get Help with an Issue , we see the confusion. Where's the Jump Break? or I added a Jump Break to several posts, but it never shows up! When asked for a screen print of what they're seeing, they may provide a image of the post, in the Post Editor Preview window - or possibly, the published post, but in post page view.
