Redirecting The Home Page, And Mobile Templates

Everything has its limits - even Blogger features. For a while, we've been seeing hints that mobile templates don't support a redirected Home page.
How do I disable the Blogger mobile redirect "/?m=1"?
Some blog owners would prefer their readers, using a mobile computer, see a redirected Home page, with a desktop template - instead of a mobile display with a dynamic Home page.

Apparently, the mobile redirect
/?m=1
overrides the Home page redirect
/
Actually, this makes sense. "/?m=1" (the redirected mobile template URL snippet) is not equal to "/" (the redirected Home page URL snippet).

For those blog owners who have forgotten how they set the mobile template on their blog, you need to remove the mobile template, using the "Template - Choose mobile template" wizard, from the gear icon beneath Template - Mobile. Simply select "No. Show desktop template on mobile devices.", and Save - and that's that.

Now, everybody - including your readers using mobile computers - will see the standard desktop template (with optional Home page redirect), when viewing your blog.

This probably won't remain a difficult choice, for all blog owners, for long. Newer mobile computers - PDAs, phones, tablets, and such - have rather sophisticated display units, which approach the clarity of normal high resolution devices previously seen on desktop / laptop computers, from just a few years ago. One's readers simply have to get used to a computer with a 6" to 12" touch screen, instead of one with a 12" to 16" no touch screen with keyboard.

Thank you for the information, I panicked yesterday when I saw my blog changed like that on my I-Pad.

So, I have my blog (www.svyt.org) to redirect to a custom home page, however, on a mobile device - even though I have mobile template disabled in the dashboard - it does not redirect to the home page, but rather to the "blog". Because the format of the non-mobile landing page is not optimized for mobile, I created a "mobile home" landing page (basically the same content, but formatted for a mobile screen). I can't for the life of me figure out how to redirect a mobile device to the mobile home landing page, instead of the blog, or the normal landing page.

I have the same issue as Becca....

I have my redirect setup to use a static Blogger homepage. But even if I turn off the mobile version, when viewing site from smartphone, the redirect breaks and I am repeatedly brought to the original "blog" home page.

Any help or ideas on correcting this frustrating issue?

Many thanks

Add A Custom Redirect, If You Change A Post URL

When you rename a blog, the most that you can do, to keep the old URL useful, is to setup a stub post , with a clickable link to the new URL. Yo! The blog is now at xxxxxxx.blogspot.com!! Blogger forbids gateway blogs, and similar blog to blog redirections . When you rename a post, you can setup a custom redirect - and automatically redirect your readers to the post, under its new URL. You should take advantage of this option, if you change a post URL.

Referer Spam Is Annoying - And, It's Persistent

Recently, we've seen a few blog owners who are curious about odd trends in their Stats displays. My numbers seem to go up steadily for a while, then drop. Then, they go up again, for a while, then drop again. Rises and falls in traffic are normal. You'll never have the same number of people, viewing your blog, constantly. During some days and some hours, our readers are going to be elsewhere, and not viewing our blogs.

Jump Break Is Visible Only In An Index Page

Some blog owners are unsure what a Jump Break looks like, when applied to their blogs. Occasionally, in Blogger Help Forum: Get Help with an Issue , we see the confusion. Where's the Jump Break? or I added a Jump Break to several posts, but it never shows up! When asked for a screen print of what they're seeing, they may provide a image of the post, in the Post Editor Preview window - or possibly, the published post, but in post page view.
