A Recent Change To The Post Template Disables Inline Comment Forms

We have a small flood of reports in Blogger Help Forum: Something Is Broken, from owners of blogs that use the inline ("Embedded below post") comment form, that their comment form is not visible.
The comments section of some of my blogs do not show up. When I change the comments settings to "Pop-up window", it works - but when it is "Embedded below post" it doesn't work!

The comment form code is part of the post template. When you publish a new post, any changes currently active in the post template will become part of your blog. It appears that Blogger recently changed the post template code - though whether permanently or temporarily, we cannot say.

If your blog uses the inline comment form, and your recently published posts now lack the comment form, you may see an improvement by refreshing or repairing the post template - then clearing browser cache, and restarting the browser. If that gives you no improvement, then change the blog to use a full page or pop-up window form, until Blogger can fix the problem properly.

I refreshed my template, then cleared the cache, then restarted my browser...and I still have part of Google's cartoon robot with the wrench blocking my comment box and tags/labels. How does one "change the blog to use a full page or pop-up window form?"

Michael,

Settings - Comments - "Comment Form Placement" lets you change the form style from Embedded, to "Full page" or Popup.

Chuck: I did that: I still get the Oops! Google robot "something is wrong" guy, now at different sections of my blog: at the title, or at the end of the blog.

It won't be there, then I'll look at my stats, and then come back: it's there.

I can cut/paste and email you what it looks like to me, or (maybe?) you'll see what I mean at

If you don't see it, after moving around there for a bit....well, that's interesting. I recently saw it on friends' Blogger blogs when cartoon robot-guy wasn't there a few hrs earlier. WTF? - as the kids say.

OK, Michael,

Try resetting the post template, restart the browser, and try again.

If that doesn't help, it's time for you to post in Blogger Help Forum: Something Is Broken, so we can discuss this in depth.
